Apple Dumpling Gang

The classic Disney western without a shred of realism, but with Don Knotts as a bumbling bandit (oh sure Tim Conway is in it, too). One of the funniest people of the 20th century.

Bill Bixby isn't bad and Harry Morgan plays Harry Morgan.

So it's a fine film all around.

But watch it for the star performances, not the story.

There Will Be Blood

Based on Upton Sinclair's classic "Oil!," this film is a marvelous 3-hour long examination of greed and Daniel Day Lewis' undeniably perfect acting skills.

I really can't say much except that it's worth two views.

Bourne Ultimatum

Just rewatched the movie, because damnit that footchase and fight in Tangiers is one of the best things to happen in 2007.

And Matt Damon can act.

Three Days of the Condor

Cut out Faye Dunaway (and her subplot) and this is a good movie. Smart tension and plot. If you're not paying attention, you miss the details.

Good movie.

But, I do have one question. Was there ever a time when Redford wasn't playing some sissy liberal do-gooder?

Hang 'Em High

Disappointingly uninspired. Even at a young age, Clint had charisma and presence. But that's about it for this lazy, meandering film.

Not as good as I remember.
